selling direct to the retail trade

The company started its life in 1986 as Photographix Unlimited, specialising in landscape photographic greeting cards. It was established by the present MD’s brother, John O’Brien and with Ian’s arrival 3 years later, came the move from a back bedroom in Beeston, Leeds to a small coach-house conversion in Harrogate.

It was then that the company saw some rapid growth, thanks to an archive of original Victorian photographs taken by the brother’s great grandfather 80 years earlier.

Ian took the reins in 1997, eventually teaming up with a new creative business partner, James Greenwood, who had established a small company, called Pigment, specialising in cute and hand-made cards. The two companies ran alongside each other for a while, eventually merging and taking on the Pigment name on the arrival of the third ‘little piggy’, Stephen Baker, who brought a wealth of sales and marketing experience.

And so in 2002 the ‘three little piggies’- known as the Pigment Boys – set off to huff and puff and blow the card market away!

Since then, Pigment has become a big name in humour and with its recent expansion into sentiment and trend- helped by its acquisition of Inkdrops Cards – it now offers a wide spectrum of looks and card styles covering all occasions and seasons.

Although the company has expanded dramatically, its ethos still lies in its people. Teamwork and flexibility along with a great sense of humour all play a vital part and our aim is to move the company forward to the forefront of the pack by offering, not just good product, but excellent customer service and a personal touch – whilst enjoying ourselves in the process.
